About Us

The Rossignol String Quartet is made up of two sets of sisters from Marsden and Lindley, in West Yorkshire.

After meeting at a local music festival, our quartet was formed in 2019 and since then we’ve been gaining 1st prizes regularly in  competitions such as the Mrs Sunderland Festival, the Haydn Wood Music Festival and the Holmfirth Festival.

After lockdown, we started taking on bookings for weddings, dinner parties and other events as well as taking on a weekly spot performing at the North of England Centre for Music and Arts. In 2024 we were invited to compete in the finals of the national Music For Youth competition in Birmingham Symphony Hall.

All four of us have been members of the National Children’s Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra Inspire.

Our further combined credits also include:

  • the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (Symphony)
  • the National Youth Orchestra Associates
  • the National Children’s Orchestra Northerlies (leader)
  • the National Youth Orchestra (Development)
  • the Hallé Youth Orchestra
  • the National Youth Music Theatre
